Sport - End of Term 2
A huge congratulations to Alexander Ikanovic who has been selected in the Victorian Swimming team and will compete in the Pacific School Games in Adelaide 3-9 December. Alex will be competing against the Australian State and Territories and well as some international teams. Alex will be competing in the 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly which are his dominate events. Alex is the only person in the region competing in the event highlighting this fantastic effort. Alex will be competing in the 17-20 years age group. This is a really tough age group because everyone is at their peak and working towards moving into the open events.
Beyond the Pacific School games Alex is hoping to make the commonwealth game trials in 2018. We wish him all the best as he continues his intense training regime to achieve this goal. Good luck.
Wyndham region sport
Well done to the 31 students who competed in the Wyndham region Cross Country at Presidents Park on Tuesday May 31st. We had some good results with 20 of our students progressing to the Western Metro Region on June 22nd.
Our Soccer teams also competed recently and finished runners up in a hard fought competition. Unfortunately our badminton students did not get the opportunity to play in the Wyndham region with other school withdrawing. We have progressed in both the Intermediate girls and Intermediate boys. I look forward to seeing all their hard work pay off when they finally get the chance to play.
The remainder of the term is quiet in terms for competitions but training for term 3 sport is well under way for Hockey. We have had great turn outs at trainings and students skills are improving with every session. Teams have been working on short corners and positioning in the lead up to the Western Metropolitan Region competition in August.
Once again a big thank you to all the staff who are assisting with the sport program both at the interschool level and intra-school level.
